This week’s question from my portal “The Neagle Code: Directions for Life” comes from Julie.
Hi David,
I’m always worried that I’m not doing enough, learning enough, or taking enough action. How do I stop these self-sabotaging thoughts?
Great question.
This sounds like a voice of “I’m not enough” that’s creeping up for you.
You need to just ignore that voice, and repeat (out loud and over and over):
“I’m enough. I’m enough”.
Then the first step in setting a goal is to determine what needs to be done to achieve the goal.
There are things that we know we need to do… and then there are things that we don’t know that we need to do. As we move toward the goal, we’ll get clearer on EVERYTHING that needs to be done.
It might be required that we learn a new skill or improve upon a strategy we’ve tried in the past.
But the key is to let the goal drive your decision-making process, not the voice in your mind.
If the goal requires you to do more, than do more.
If the goal requires you to learn more, than learn more.
Do only what needs to be done today the best that you possibly can.
Stay present and let the goal dictate your activity.
