This week’s question from our portal “Ask Us Anything” comes from someone who wishes to remain anonymous.
I feel like I’m struggling with my revenue goal this month. It’s halfway through the month and I’m only at around 20% of the way there. I feel like I have two personalities – one part of me is wise and knows what to do, but there’s another part that feels like a teenager running the show and going into jaded feelings. How do I get out of this pattern and back into the wise part of myself?
You want to be in the more wise part of yourself – so what’s the truth about this situation?
The truth is that the wise part of you is there. And the money and the sales are there right now too. That’s what you need to focus on, and that’s what will show up.
Forget about the timeframe because that creates fear.
Just focus on today. Am I doing my best today? That’s it.
Let’s get logical about this for a moment: if the money wasn’t here, we would all have to fold our businesses up today. You’re either going to sell today, tomorrow, or in the future. It has to be here. We already live on the assumption that it’s here – that’s why we have businesses.
So it’s actually more crazy thinking when your mind goes to “it’s not here, where’s it going to come from, what do I do?” The money IS here right now. The clients who need your help are here right now.
When you have these conflicting internal voices, choose to align with the wise one that knows the truth. The “teenager” voice is just fear trying to keep you safe in familiar territory. The wise voice knows that everything you need is already available and that your job is simply to show up as your best self each day.
Stay in the mindset that it’s here right now, and let that truth guide your actions rather than the fear-based timeline thinking.
