Did I Really Break Through My Financial Set Point?

This week’s question from our portal “Ask Us Anything” comes from Dawn.

My question is about financial set points. Recently, I’ve made a lot of money that I didn’t expect to make. Then suddenly, our sump pump went out. Our HVAC had to be replaced. My husband had to have emergency surgery. I had to have $600 worth of work done to my car. Now guess what my bank account looks like?

Previously, I had this desire to go to Disney World. And now I don’t even have the money for Disney anymore. I’m back to doing all this extra work just to be able to pay for things.

Clearly, there’s a “financial set point” issue going on here. I’m frustrated, because I’ve been doing the mindset work. I’ve been thinking, “Yay. We broke through.” And then it’s like—“But not really.”

First of all, that’s not true. Everything you’re describing is a sign that you ARE breaking through. If you weren’t breaking through, you wouldn’t subconsciously be creating all those barriers.

The idea is to consistently move through the barriers and be grateful for them. As hard as it might be, move through them with gratitude.

If you have a desire to go to Disney world, keep your focus on that goal, no matter what.

Don’t ever say you don’t have the money for something. Don’t ever say that again.

Yes, you do, because you have all the money in the world. Everyone does.

It’s a matter of—are you going to do what it takes to get it and break through this? That’s the decision.

It’s not about, “I don’t have the money now” and then making a decision from there. Never, ever make a decision from what you don’t have.

Do whatever it takes to break through.

WHY DO YOU KEEP LOSING SALES YOU SHOULD BE WINNING?

It’s not your product, your price, or your pitch. It’s that you’re talking to the wrong mind, and you can’t even see it.

A sale doesn’t happen in the conscious mind. It happens in the subconscious mind.

When a prospect says they need to think about it, they don’t have the money, or the timing isn’t right, what they’re telling you on the surface isn’t what’s driving their decision.

If you don’t see what’s really happening, you don’t know what to say or do next. That’s the blind spot, and it can cost you the sale.

This month, Steph Tuss joins me for a brand-new 5-part series on The Successful Mind Podcast where we go deep into the different types of sales blind spots and what’s going on in your brain that’s causing you to lose sales you should be closing.

You’ll learn about the four Sales Blind Spot types: the Reluctant Seller, the People-Pleaser, the Convincer, and the Catalyst, and how each one kills the sale.

We also created a free tool that shows you what’s really happening in your sales conversations, where exactly you’re losing the deal, and how to fix it.

If a sale has ever slipped away and you couldn’t explain why, this series is for you.
