I’m Marketing, But Not Getting the Right Clients

This week’s question from our portal “Ask Us Anything” comes from Andrea.

I’m trying to understand this idea of visualizing and acting on faith. I get it intellectually. But it feels difficult for me. Now my business is experiencing “feast or famine.” Clients are starting to peter off. I can make a $100k sale on the phone, but it takes several months for it to be completed.

Then I hear you say, “Well, I would just go into a supermarket and make a sale.” All I feel is shame around that—because I’m like, “How?” I’ve been focusing on marketing. I’m doing my Sacred Seven. And I’m not seeing the lead generation. I’m not seeing the right people on the phone with me. It feels tough. So, I’m like, “What is wrong with me?”

Hold on. Take a breath. You’ve got three different things going on here.

First, why is it difficult for you to act in faith? That’s just a decision. You have to do it all the time.

Do you want to make faith an intellectual study? Or do you want to actually do it? If you want to DO it, then stop hyper-focusing on it and just do the work.

Secondly… the reason I can go into a supermarket and sell somebody is because I know what I’m looking for. I know what my ideal client looks like.

If you’re marketing and you’re not getting results, then you haven’t identified what you’re testing that’s working. That’s a process. It can be time-consuming.

Ask yourself, “Where else is my ideal client? What other avenues of contacting them can I discover?”

Third… stop engaging with this crazy conversation in your head. Tell yourself, “I’m not going to follow the shame; I am going to follow my worthiness.”

Read this quote from A Course in Miracles:

“The truth about you is so lofty that nothing unworthy of God is worthy of you.”

Read it 10, 20, 50 times a day if you have to—and start to follow that direction in your life. Do the activities in the direction you want to go.

You can’t ever shut off the voice that’s telling you you’re not good enough. You have to follow the other direction.

Stop telling yourself, “It’s not working.” Stop verbalizing that, and start focusing on what IS working.

You have to change your language and make it go in the direction of what you want to manifest in life.

Say to yourself:

“This is going to work. This is working. Clients are coming to me in large numbers every day easily, effortlessly. Everything is going my way.”

Have this conversation in your head over and over again. You don’t even have to believe it—just do it, say it, act on it. Behave as if it’s real, every day.

It’s not “tough.” It’s just a decision. Don’t verbalize what you don’t want to experience. Don’t say, “It’s tough.” Say—“It’s easy.”

“It’s happening easily. It’s happening effortlessly. It’s happening every day. Clients come to me constantly.” You have to keep doing this all day long, as many times a day as it has to happen.
