This week’s question from our portal “Ask Us Anything” comes from Chris.
You said that the universe is mental and that everything begins with thought. But I’ve been thinking about what I want for years and nothing has changed. I think about the business I want to build, the income I want to have, the life I want to live—I think about it all the time. And I’m still in the same place I was three years ago, and we’re about to go into another new year. So clearly just thinking about it isn’t enough. What am I missing? What’s the piece that actually makes thought turn into things?
You’re absolutely right that just thinking about something isn’t enough. But let me clarify what “everything begins with thought” actually means, because there’s a lot of confusion about this.
It doesn’t mean that if you think about a million dollars, a million dollars shows up. It means that you cannot have anything in your physical reality that doesn’t first exist as a thought.
Everything that’s ever been created by human beings started as a thought in someone’s mind. This building started as a thought. Your car started as a thought. Your phone started as a thought. Nothing physical exists that didn’t first exist as an idea.
But here’s what most people miss, and this is critical:
There’s a massive difference between a passing thought and a sustained, focused, emotionalized thought backed by action.
You’re thinking about what you want, but you’re probably also thinking about why you can’t have it, why it hasn’t shown up yet, all the obstacles in your way, why other people can do it but maybe you can’t, what you’re going to do if it doesn’t work out, and on and on and on.
Those are thoughts, too. And if you’re spending more time and energy on those thoughts than on the thoughts of what you want, guess which one you’re going to manifest? The dominant thought wins. Every time.
The law doesn’t respond to your wishes. It doesn’t respond to your hopes. It responds to your dominant vibration, which is determined by your dominant thoughts and emotions.
So here’s what you need to do, and this is the practical application:
You need to get yourself into the feeling state of already having what you want. You need to hold that thought with emotion—not just think about it, but feel it as if it’s already real. And you need to take the actions that someone who already has that thing would take.
That’s when thought becomes things. Not before.
Let me give you an example. If you want to build a million-dollar business, you can’t just think “I want a million-dollar business” while you’re sitting on your couch doing nothing. You have to think the thought, feel the emotion of already being that person who runs a million-dollar business, and then take the actions that person would take.
Would that person be afraid to raise their prices? No. Would that person be worried about what people think? No. Would that person be making decisions from lack? No.
So you have to embody that consciousness and then act from it. Thought without action is just fantasy. Action without thought is just activity. But thought plus emotion plus action? That’s creation.
That’s the missing piece you’re looking for, and that’s what’ll get you exactly what you want in the new year.
