This week’s question from our portal “Ask Us Anything” comes from Brad.
How do I know if I’m actually operating at a higher level of consciousness, or if I’m just fooling myself? Like, I think I’m thinking at a higher level, I’m reading the books, I’m doing the practices, I’m using the language. But looking back over this past year, my results haven’t really been changing. Or at least they’re not changing as fast as I think they should. What’s the indicator that tells me I’ve actually shifted? How do I know if I’m really growing or if I’m just spinning my wheels?
Your results are always the indicator. Always. Your results never lie.
If you think you’re operating at a higher level of consciousness but your results haven’t changed, you’re not operating at a higher level of consciousness. You’re operating at the same level with new vocabulary.
And I see this all the time. I’ve seen it for 25 years. People come to seminars, they learn the language of consciousness, they learn the language of universal laws, they can talk about vibration and frequency and polarity and mentalism and all of it. They sound really good.
But their bank account hasn’t changed. Their relationships haven’t changed. Their health hasn’t changed. Their business hasn’t grown. They’re still struggling with the same patterns they were struggling with before.
That’s not higher consciousness. That’s intellectualization. That’s collecting information without transformation. That’s learning vocabulary without embodiment.
Higher consciousness produces different results. Period. It has to. Because consciousness determines perception, perception determines decisions, decisions determine actions, and actions determine results.
If you’re truly operating from a higher level of awareness, your decisions change, your actions change, and therefore your results change. It’s not optional. It’s automatic.
So stop asking yourself how you feel about your level of consciousness. Stop asking yourself if you think you’ve grown. Stop asking yourself if you understand the concepts better now than you did before.
Look at your results. Are they better than they were six months ago? A year ago? Five years ago? Are you earning more? Are your relationships better? Do you have more freedom? More peace? More joy?
If yes, you’re growing. If no, you’re still operating from the same level you were before—you just have new language for it.
And here’s the other piece: if your results are changing but you’re miserable, that’s not higher consciousness either. Higher consciousness doesn’t just create external results. It creates internal peace. It creates certainty. It creates joy.
So you need both. You need the internal shift that creates external results. Not one or the other. Both.
The results tell you the truth. Everything else is just a story you’re telling yourself. And if you don’t like what your results are telling you, that’s actually great news. Because it means you know exactly where you need to focus your attention.
Stop trying to convince yourself you’ve changed. Start changing. And the results will confirm it.
