This week’s question from our portal “Ask Us Anything” comes from someone who wishes to remain anonymous.
I wanted to check something with you about energy. Last week, I had this experience where I found myself dropping into what feels like a low frequency or negative energy state. I was talking with my sister, and she told me about some troubling news that happened in Mexico. I made the mistake of getting emotionally involved in the conversation, and it completely ruined my entire day.
After that conversation, everything started going wrong. I went to get my hair done, and they messed it up. Then they botched my eyebrows too. It wasn’t just big things – it was all these little things piling up one after another. I’m wondering if there’s a real connection here. Does being in that low energy state actually attract more negative experiences? Is that why my whole day fell apart after engaging with that negative news?
Absolutely. When you put yourself in a low vibrational state, that’s exactly what happens. Let me explain how this works.
Think about how your day typically unfolds. You wake up in a neutral vibration. Then you start doing things that increase your energy – maybe you’re affirming your goals, joining our morning calls, feeling really good, building that expectation of what you want in your life. You’re operating at a higher frequency.
But then something comes along that lowers your vibration – like that conversation about troubling news from Mexico. When that happens, you instantly disconnect from that upper level energy and drop down to a lower frequency. And here’s the key: you get everything that’s on that lower level because you’ve changed your frequency.
The more you maintain the level of what you want and your expectancy that you’re going to get it, the more positive experiences you attract. Anything that moves you down disconnects you from that upper level and puts you in a completely different experience.
Now, here’s something really important I want you to understand. You can absolutely know about things happening in the world without being emotionally captured by them. You can stay informed without letting it affect your energy. However – and this is crucial – if you find that you’re consistently getting emotionally pulled into these things, then simply stay away from them.
We’re living in crazy times. There’s all kinds of stuff happening out there. But the key is to remind yourself: “I always have a choice. No matter how crazy it gets, I’m a conscious person. I have a choice about where I put my energy.”
See, when people get emotionally involved and sucked down these rabbit holes, it becomes their reality because they’re seeing the power as outside themselves rather than inside themselves.
This reminds me of Viktor Frankl’s work in “Man’s Search for Meaning.” Here’s a guy locked up in a Nazi concentration camp – literally the worst situation imaginable – and he’s teaching mindset to the other prisoners. The ones who embraced what he was saying actually survived. They literally wouldn’t get picked to go into the gas chambers that day. Guards would go down the line selecting people, and they would consistently pass over the people who were maintaining this mindset of choice.
It’s hard to imagine a more powerful example of how your internal state affects your external reality.
So when your sister starts telling you about something that happened in Mexico, the first question you should ask yourself is: “Why do I want to know about this? What’s my reason for engaging with this information?”
Now, I’m not saying put your head in the sand and know nothing about what’s going on. I personally stay very informed about world events. But I don’t let them affect me emotionally because I recognize that I have a choice in how I respond.
I have a choice.
I’m not going to be a victim – and neither are you. No matter what happens, you are not a victim. That’s your choice to make.
When you maintain your power of choice over your emotional responses, you stay connected to that higher frequency. You remain in control of what you’re manifesting in your life. Your hair appointments go well. Your eyebrows turn out great. The little things align because you’re aligned.
Remember, your power isn’t in controlling external events – it’s in controlling your response to them. That’s the one thing nobody can take from you unless you give it away.
