This week’s question from our portal “Ask Us Anything” comes from Britney.
I often refer back to what you’ve taught us about “tone”—and how you use your tone to attract and bring in sales, and how this ties back to your energy.
What are some tips or strategies I can use to make sure I keep that same, proper tone and energy on every sales call? Meanwhile, in the back of my mind I know I haven’t had a successful second half this year, compared to the first half. Things aren’t formulating for me at the moment. Yet, I still need to bring a stronger tone and the right energy to my calls in order to attract more and “turn that tide.”
Great question!
There are two things to consider here. First off, the mindset you’re battling with right now has to do with you. You’re making your calls about you.
When you get on a phone call with someone, you need to be in the mindset of, “How can I help this person?” And you need to be very clear about the two.
The best way to do that is to take a few minutes before you start calling people. And say to yourself:
“Who do I need to be right now before I get on this call? This call is about them, not me. This call is not about my problem or me taking something personally or my lack of self-esteem. It’s not about me having a down year. I need to be 100% in the right place to help these people.”
Then practice putting yourself in that right place.
You can use things to help lift yourself emotionally such as music, movies, YouTube clips. There are lots of things out there that can help change your energy.
Get up and read your goal. Scream your goal,
punch your fist, change your physiology before you get on that call.
But realize ultimately you’re on that call to help them. You’re not on that call to solve your problem. In that moment, you’re trying to help them.
And remember—there’s always a way. If you have a desire to make more sales, the way to achieve that desire is already here.
