This week’s question from our portal “Ask Us Anything” comes from Whitney.

To what extent do I bring in universal law and teachings to my staff? Sometimes I feel like we’re in the muggle world versus the wizarding world. I’m trying to work my staff through some things, knowing that their results and thinking impact the business. Do I coach them and teach them about this stuff, or do I keep these worlds separate?

The best way I’ve seen this done is voluntarily. You can’t force this on anyone.

What works really well is a book study – taking a book and reading a chapter and discussing it once a week. Currently with my team, each Monday we meet, go over objectives and key results and what’s coming up for the week. Then we spend a few minutes and read a chapter of a book like “U Squared” and everybody comments on it or asks questions about it.

They get to take in the information at the level that they’re at. They’re not being preached to, they’re not being taught. Everyone’s learning it together.

This creates real cohesion within the team and creates an environment where everyone’s speaking the same language. “U Squared” is a really great book to start with, and so are “The Four Agreements.”

It creates a common language for everyone to use, provides personal development for them in a way that each person can take it in individually based on their own level of awareness. And I don’t teach it like I’m teaching you guys – I read it and then I answer their questions only.
