This week’s question from our portal “Ask Us Anything” comes from Mary.
Can you say more about the law of leverage? I don’t know if I understand it that well.
Sure!
The answer to this question depends on the level of success an individual wants to attain. If you want to have a significant reach and be able to impact as many people as possible, then you need leverage. Why? Because there’s only so much you can do as one person.
Leverage is about the amount of money a person makes, the effectiveness of their product or service that they sell, and the amount of reach they have in their business. To go beyond what you can do as a single human being, the only way to do that is to use leverage.
Here’s the rule of leverage to accomplish these things:
You can leverage money, time, people, and knowledge.
In other words, you can only do so much on your own. If you’re going to expand beyond what one person can do, you’re going to have to leverage the experience and skill sets of other people.
Most people are taught to trade time for money, which is the worst trade a person can make for money in and of itself.
If you want to go beyond that, you have to be able to leverage skills to do that. You need to have a product or a service that you can leverage beyond just fitting into somebody else’s agenda where you’re working for somebody else.
I’m not saying it’s bad to work for someone else; I’m just saying that if you want to go beyond it, you have to start to learn to practice leverage in order to be able to do that.
Do you need to hire someone for their skill set in order to save time, so you don’t have to do the task yourself? Can you use someone else’s money to grow your business? Do you need to hire a coach in order to gain their knowledge about a particular area? These are all ways could use leverage in your business.
