This week’s question from our portal “Ask Us Anything” comes Sarah.
Could you talk about how a lack of love for sales impacts your marketing? I understand the connection between mindset and results, but I want to be really clear on how this affects the actual marketing efforts and outcomes.
It’s the law of opposites. If you don’t love sales, you hate it. And when you hate something, you attract its opposite – which means you’ll attract people who don’t want to buy.
No matter how good your marketing is, if you have negative energy around sales, that underlying energy will be behind everything going out from you and your company. It won’t work as effectively as if you were excited about it, expected it to work, and approached it with enthusiasm.
When you put negative energy around anything going out from you and your company,
it simply won’t work as well as if you were genuinely excited about the process.
This principle applies beyond just the technical aspects of marketing – your ads, your copy, your funnels. The energy you bring to the entire sales process infuses everything you create. If you dread sales conversations, that energy will be present in your marketing materials, even if you can’t consciously detect it.
People can sense when someone doesn’t want to be selling to them. They pick up on that energy of reluctance, desperation, or resentment around the sales process. Conversely, when you genuinely love helping people through sales, when you’re excited about the transformation you provide, that positive energy becomes magnetic.
The solution isn’t just to “fake it till you make it” with enthusiasm. You need to fundamentally shift your relationship with sales by focusing on the service aspect – how you’re genuinely helping people solve problems and achieve their goals. When you fall in love with that process, your marketing naturally becomes more effective because it’s powered by authentic positive energy.
