This week’s question from our portal “Ask Us Anything” comes from Jen.
My question is, if you have a vision do to something, should you pursue what you’re feeling called to do without worrying about whether it will work or not? Deep in my spirit, I feel there’s something I should launch this year, and I’m really excited about it. I’ve started putting it together and will launch it in the next couple of months. But I also hear business experts saying we should test everything and make sure it’s what the market wants.
How do you reconcile those two? How do you pursue something you feel like your spirit wants to do and move forward with it—but on the other hand, you’re hearing that you need to test it to see if the market really wants it?
Great question! Moving forward with it IS testing it.
When I want something, I just do it. AND it’s also a test.
There have been many things we’ve done in my company that just fell flat; they didn’t work. And we put a lot of time, energy, and work into them.
With everything we do, we try to put everything into it. We always do our best with every launch, or whatever it is. AND we’ve had things over the years where it was crash and burn. Nobody responded; it couldn’t get any attention… nothing.
It’s like, “Okay, that didn’t work. We’re not hung up on it. What’s going to work?”
For me, I ask myself, “What do I feel is next for me? What ideas am I really attached to? What am I passionate about doing? Let’s give it a try. Let’s do it.” Those seem to be the things that work best for me.
Here’s the cool thing about this. Sometimes I would have an idea and my team would run with it, and it wouldn’t go the way we planned. However, something would be uncovered—or we would learn something new that would actually help clarify and crystallize that one idea. Then we turned it into the next idea that actually DID work.
We wouldn’t have gotten to that second successful idea
if we hadn’t moved forward with the first idea.
When God, Source, or Spirit spirit leads, just move forward with it, because it’s leading you. You don’t know the destination; you’re on the journey.
Taking action on it shows you what the next opportunity is, which is always the reason to take the next step. You just need to be unattached to whatever you’re going to learn or find out.
