Why “How long should it take?” is the wrong question

This week’s question from our portal “Ask Us Anything” comes from Wendy.

You talked about the fact that we’re always demonstrating our level of consciousness through our results. But what if I’m doing everything you’re teaching—I’m focusing on what I want, I’m controlling my thoughts, I’m taking action—and my results still aren’t changing as fast as I want them to? Does that mean I’m doing something wrong? How long should it take before I see results?

First of all, stop asking “how long should it take.” That question comes from a consciousness of lack. You’re focused on the fact that you don’t have it yet.

Here’s what you need to understand: you’re always demonstrating. You’re always getting results that are in perfect harmony with your consciousness. If your results aren’t what you want them to be, it’s not that you’re doing something wrong. It’s that there’s a level you’re not willing to go beyond yet.

Most people say they’re doing everything, but they’re not. They’re doing everything up to the point where it gets uncomfortable. Then they stop. Then they wonder why nothing’s changing.

The breakthrough is always just beyond where you stop. 

Always. So if your results aren’t changing, you haven’t gone far enough. You’re stopping at the terror barrier and calling it “I’ve done everything.”

And here’s the other piece: you can’t be focused on the result and create the result at the same time. When you’re constantly checking “Is it here yet? Is it here yet? Why isn’t it here yet?”—that’s not faith. That’s doubt.

You need to make the decision, take the action, and have the faith that it’s already done. Not that it’s coming. That it’s done. And then let it manifest in its own time.

The question isn’t how long it should take. The question is: are you willing to stay in the decision until it manifests?
